Should parents (who have the means) help their kids get jobs in tough times?

James Caan – former ‘star’ of Dragon’s Den speaks out about parents letting their kids do all the work when getting into employment in tough economic times

However: Please see post below. Is this supportive, coming from a self-made millionaire who just wants to help his kids – or is it pure hypocrisy?

Don’t get me wrong, I was aided by my parents to go to a good school and then supported by them at Uni when we had the grant system as my father’s income meant I was not eligible.

That was the law back then. Since then, I have worked several jobs, sometimes three a day, to pay for my travels abroad and then when home, moving to London to pursue journalism.

My father was by no means a millionaire businessman. He worked hard all his life to give me a comfortable upbringing.

I have worked for all my legal adult life and loved every minute. He’s been a support through the years, but I tell you what, even if he had been another hypocrite of the ‘you can’t touch me, cos I’m rich’ gang, there is no way he would be saying what Mr Caan has said – and then doing the opposite.

Thoughts, anyone?
